Were are pleased to include several of our young musicians here who have moved on to further education or successful careers - in recognition of their contribution to music in Purbeck.   We continue to encourage and promote their performances, locally and nationwide, and we welcome them back on regular occasions to visit schools to inspire the next generation. 

Miro Treharne 

 

Miro Treharne is a mezzo- soprano currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance. 

 

She has had numerous soloist performances with established organisations, with Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and has performed a wide range of genres with a focus upon classical and Italian operatic repertoire intermingled with choral influence derived from her soprano scholarship at St Peter’s Church, Dorchester. She has particular interest in English song and was the Winner of the English Song Duo Competition in 2023, as well as recently winning the Elisabeth Schumann Lieder Competition alongside her duo partner, Pietro Lacopini.  

 

She has performed in masterclasses and was awarded the Sir William Boreman’s Scholarship 2024 by the SongEasel organisation. She is extremely excited to attend the Saluzzo Opera Academy, performing as the role of ‘Tolomeo’ from Handel’s ‘Giulio Cesare’ supported by the Elizabeth Luxton Memorial Scholarship.

Sally Aiko Dando

 

Sally Aiko Dando is finishing her 3rd year at the RCM, studying violin with Lyutsia Ibragimova.

Her studies include solo, chamber  and orchestral music.  Sally performs regularly in the Broadstone Music Series chamber concerts, in local orchestras and recitals and also teaches.

 

The Seion Quartet, with whom Sally plays second violin, has recently won The Helen Just and Susan Connell Prize and also The Sacconi Quartet Prize They have been awarded the place as a Hans Keller Forum Ensemble representing the Royal College of Music for the Chamber Studio’s  2024/25 season.
